Calculator Disclaimer

In Short

Every calculator on myconstructioncalculator.com gives an estimate for planning, budgeting and ordering materials. Check the results against your drawings and specifications, confirm local values with your suppliers, and have all structural work designed and approved by a qualified engineer.

This disclaimer applies to every calculator, table, worked example and article on myconstructioncalculator.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you accept the terms below. If you do not accept them, please do not rely on the results.

1. Purpose of the Calculators

The calculators are general planning tools for site engineers, supervisors, estimators, contractors and homeowners. They work out quantities, volumes, weights, levels, durations and costs from the information you enter. They are provided free of charge, on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

2. Results Are Estimates

All results are estimates. Actual quantities on site can differ because of workmanship, ground conditions, construction tolerances, material variation, weather and changes to the design. Allow a suitable margin, and confirm critical quantities before you place an order or start work.

3. Your Inputs and Your Responsibility

A result is only as accurate as the inputs used to produce it. You are responsible for entering correct dimensions, units and values, and for checking that the result is reasonable for your project. Always check units and dimensions against the current drawings.

4. Default Values and Assumptions

Some fields are filled with typical values, such as truck capacities, wastage allowances, bag yields, densities, mix ratios, productivity rates and prices. These are general figures and may not match your supplier, region or specification. Replace them with confirmed local values wherever they matter.

5. Allowances Not Included

A calculator includes only the allowances it shows in its working. Unless a page states otherwise, results do not include items such as rebar laps, hooks, bends and chairs, extra excavation for working space, or losses from handling and storage. Add these separately where your project needs them.

6. Not Structural Design or Professional Advice

The calculators do not design or check structural members. They do not verify strength, stability, serviceability, durability or fire resistance, and they do not replace drawings, specifications or calculations prepared for your project. Nothing on the Site is engineering, legal or financial advice, and using the Site does not create a professional relationship with the site owner. Structural, geotechnical and temporary works must be designed and approved by a suitably qualified engineer.

7. Codes, Standards and Local Regulations

Where a calculator refers to a code or standard (for example ACI, ASTM, Eurocode, OSHA, ADA or UK Building Regulations), the reference is for guidance only and may not reflect the latest edition or the rules that apply where you build. You are responsible for following the codes, regulations and approval requirements of your local authority and your project specification.

8. Safety on Site

Results such as excavation slopes, formwork pressures, prop loads and striking times are planning figures only. They are not a safety assessment. Excavations, temporary works, lifting and concrete pours must follow your site's safety plan and be checked by a competent person before work begins.

9. Accuracy and Updates

Every formula is tested against known cases before it is published, and each calculator shows the date it was last reviewed. Even so, we cannot guarantee that the Site is free of errors, complete or always available. The calculators, default values and content may be changed or removed at any time without notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site owner accepts no liability for any loss, damage, delay, cost or expense, whether direct, indirect or consequential, arising from the use of the Site or from reliance on any result, table or content on it. Nothing in this disclaimer limits any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Reporting an Error

If a result looks wrong, please contact us with the inputs you used. The share link on any result is the easiest way to send them. Confirmed errors are corrected as quickly as possible.
