Density = mass ÷ volume, so mass = density × volume. One cubic metre of plain concrete at 2,400 kg/m³ weighs 2,400 kg; its unit weight is 2,400 × 9.81 ÷ 1,000 = 23.54 kN/m³ (149.8 lb/ft³). Choose a material or enter your own density.

What is the difference between density and unit weight?
Density is mass per volume (kg/m³). Unit weight is weight (force) per volume (kN/m³) and equals density × g. Structural load calculations use unit weight: reinforced concrete is often taken as 24–25 kN/m³.
What is the density of concrete?
About 2,400 kg/m³ for plain normal-weight concrete and 2,500 kg/m³ for reinforced concrete. Lightweight concrete can be 1,400–1,900 kg/m³.
What is the density of sand?
Dry, loose sand is around 1,500–1,700 kg/m³; 1,600 kg/m³ is a common estimating figure. Damp sand bulks and weighs differently.
How do I convert kg/m³ to lb/ft³?
Divide by 16.018. 2,400 kg/m³ = 149.8 lb/ft³.
